NWTC observations

This morning's winds have been predominantly from the N and fairly waek (3-6 m/s) up to 80 m above ground. We had very stable conditions overnight with a fair amount of wind direction shear, although it looks like winds at 80 m are picking up a little. This is based on the M2 tower observations, downloaded from http://www.nrel.gov/midc/nwtc_m2/

The larger turbines on site were operating when I came in the door.

It might be interesting to have TWICS look up and downstream of the mesa? We have some marked slope changes to the north of the site,  which may or may not lead to some flow separation -  I never cease to be amazed when this can occur!

    I updated the picture to show the temperatures recorded on the M2 tower as well. It's interesting how long last night's warm air persisted, and the rise in temperature near the ground in the morning is quite clear. The flip from overnight stable to daytime unstable conditions is clearly evident.
