If the precip does indeed dry out by noon, then our plan holds to start HRDL ops around 1400 MDT Th and run as late as we have NWly winds. Neither the Paul/Paddy WRF or the NWS forecasts predict extended periods of ws > 25 m/s.
Long-term, NAM has the winds dropping by 6Z Saturday, although upper levels are still westerly. It may in fact be the case that we have NWly winds from 1400ish Th through Saturday night.
How many staff do we have available to work in shifts? (I am the only CU person until finals are done, unfortunately.) And is there a hardware limitation for HRDL to be operating that long constantly?
Scans: I suggest we retain the environmental scans that Bob/Alan set up earlier in the week. The stares at the 4.4 tower are not of value with the tower not archiving data, so Th or Fri we could set up stares at the M2 tower (although that's not IEA standard mounting). In addition to the sector PPIs that Alan/Julie set up Tuesday, we can think about a series of vertical profiles (sector RHIs?) to get vertical profiles that will be more valuable for model assimilation/validation.
